Communication Activities: CIRCUSOL final event at the European Parliament

Zabala Innovation organized the event hosted by an MEP of Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection and ITRE substitute on “Policy recommendations for a successful solar market in Europe”, with a high-level discussion at the European Parliament the 15th of November of 2022. The attendees met the insights of the project that led to the setting of a series of policy recommendations that help in future regulations in the circular economy sector. Among the people invited there are policy makers in European organisations, industry representatives from the photovoltaic and batteries sector and circular economy experts. During the event was presented these guidelines with policy-recommendations in order to review existing legislation (EU Waste Framework Directive (2008/98/EC), EU Directive on Waste from Electrical and, Electronic Equipment (WEEE Directive)(2012/19/EU), and EU Directive 2006/66/EC Battery Directive Circular Business Models for the Solar Power Industry - Guide for Policy Makers (circusol.eu)
ETIP Hydropower together with other partners as the European Renewable Energies Federation. Under the umbrella of the platform some advocacy campaigns are being implemented with the aim of fostering the role of hydropower in the renewables energy agenda.
The legislation considered for these campaigns and activities is the following: Hydropower and new Renewable Energy Directive (RED), Update on NECP process (National Energy and Climate Plans), Update on Electricity Market Design (EMD) reform Update on EU Nature Restoration Regulation, Public consultation on EU 2040 climate target plan. Some of the activities of this campaigns have included meetings in the European Parliament with an MEP who follows the new electricity market design.
Other activities in the EP during the last year:
• Meeting with Zabala and an MEP (12/10/2022) about the regional innovation ecosystems.
• Meeting with Zabala and an MEP (13/01/2023) on the implementation of the NEXT GENERATION EU funds in Spain.
• Visit hosted by an MEP at the European Parliament, 30th of January - 1st February 2023:
Several Navarrese companies, in collaboration with the Confederation of Navarrese Entrepreneurs (CEN), sought to arrange meetings with various high-level representatives of European institutions. The subjects under consideration were related to the agri-food and industrial sectors, including topics like the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), digitalization, sustainability, food security, energy, and strategic autonomy. These sessions focused on discussing the challenges faced by Navarrese entrepreneurs and the solutions that the institutions were implementing to address their concerns. An high level representative of Zabala participated in this visit made up by 10 relevant companies.
