Mission & Interests

Goals: World Animal Protection is an animal welfare not-for-profit organisation with over 40 years of global experience in programmatic work and campaigns to improve animal welfare and ending animal cruelty. World Animal Protection have experience working with stakeholders at different levels, including all EU Institutions, the World Organisation for Animal Health WOAH and the UN. We work with several governments and regional political blocks such as ASEAN, the African Union and of course the European Union. Many of our supporters and members are based in Europe, including the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and the UK, where our International office is based. Our focus is to end Industrial Farming and the suffering it causes to farm animals. Also to protect wild animals from exploitation.

Main EU Legislative Proposals: - EU Farm to Fork Strategy - EU Biodiversity Strategy - European Green Deal - EU Animal Welfare legislation - Due Diligence law - EU Action Plan on wildlife trafficking - EU Deforestation law - International trade and goods movement - Animal health - Regulations, directives on farmed animals, companion animals, wild animals (particularly on trade and captivity), use of animals in scientific research and working animals - Animal sentience, particularly development of Article 13 of the Treaty of Lisbon
Communication Activities: World Animal Protection campaigns for a good life for farm animals through transforming the global food system and stopping the exploitation of wild animals by changing the systems that allow it . We are part of several working groups and initiatives at national, regional and international levels on issues in relation to animal protection, including a campaign on a Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare.
