Goals: The goals of WCS EU (according to the legal statutes) are:
1. Saving wildlife and wild places worldwide through science, conservation action, education, and inspiring people to value nature.
2. Protecting and conserving the natural environment, its flora and fauna including by undertaking innovative approaches thereto, and in particular but without limitation:
* the conservation and preservation of wildlife and wild places;
* the support of programs of and efforts for (i) scientific, conservation and veterinary research regarding wildlife and wild places, and (ii) conservation, preservation, protection, management and care of wildlife (including veterinary care and breeding of endangered and other species) in wild places or in parks, reserves, gardens, protected areas or other locations; and

Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: WCS EU is contributing scientific and technical advice in relation to a range of EU policy issues, notably:
1. Implementation of the EU action plan against wildlife trafficking
2. EU engagement in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES)
3. Development of an EU Biodiversity Strategy to 2030 and EU engagement in the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) post 2020 discussion
4. The implementation of the EU to protect and restore the world’s forests
5. EU engagement in the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species (CMS)
6. Discussions on the Multilateral Financial Framework (MFF) in relation to environmental, notably biodiversity, priorities within the new instrument for development cooperation
Communication Activities: WCS EU is actively engaged in the implementation EU funded Sustainable Wildlife Management programme (SWM) to counteract the negative impacts of unsustainable bushmeat hunting in several ACP countries.
