Mission & Interests

Goals: The WEEE Forum, set up in 2002, is a Brussels-based international for-impact, not-for-profit association speaking for fifty-two not-for-profit electrical and electronic equipment waste (WEEE) producer responsibility organisations that take back and manage WEEE, as defined by Directive 2012/19/EU, from households and businesses. The fifty-two PROs have operations in Europe, Oceania, Asia, the Americas and Africa: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Colombia, Czechia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Italy, Greece, France, Iceland, Ireland, Lithuania, Moldova, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. It is the biggest organisation of its kind in the world.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Directive 2012/19/EU on WEEE, policies related to collection and management of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), Circular Economy Action Plan, European Green Deal, CRM Action Plan, CRM Regulation, European Innovation Partnership on Raw Materials, recycling and European environmental services.
Communication Activities: An international conference every two-four years, events throughout the year, typically 3-4 per year, project-related events/conferences and workshops. Communication and dissemination of findings of grant-funded projects, e.g. C-SERVEES, CEWASTE in 2022 and 2021, CIRCTHREAD, FUTURAM, GRINNER in 2022. To date, the WEEE Forum has been involved in a dozen or so EU grant-funded projects.
