Goals: We firmly believe the global jewellery and watch industry face unique opportunities to work together to make a positive impact.
Founded by Kering and Cartier, Watch and Jewellery Initiative 2030 is guided by the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact and the 17 SDGs. We welcome companies and key stakeholders to join our movement to accelerate positive impact in three areas: building climate resilience, preserving resources, and fostering inclusiveness.
We have no doubt that our ambitious goals combined with our collective action will help drive a sea-change in the sector.
More than ever, we remain committed to share our common vision of a future where all Maisons, their suppliers and business partners in collaboration with key stakeholders are empowered to deliver positive impact on the planet and its people.

Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: The main legislative proposal is the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD)
Communication Activities: The Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030 seeks to engage with the EU commission, specifically in the fields of due diligence and reporting (looking directly at CSDDD) to 1) better understand the implications on the watch and jewellery industry / supply chain, and how best to prepare companies with guidance and materials to meet legislative requirements, and 2) inform the commission and the guidelines they are developing on the impact of the legislation in an industry specific context. This was agreed with EU Commission in our past and ongoing engagement.
To achieve these targets, WJI 2030 has and will organize meetings, roundtables and sessions, as well as engaging with the EU Commission to achieve the said targets. In April 2023 WJI 2030 hosted a roundtable with leaders in the watch and jewellery industry, as well as the EU Commissioner of Justice and his cabinet, to better understand the upcoming legislation but moreover to share industry specific insights on how this legislation will impact the players in scope, from the industry. for more info see here: https://www.wjinitiative2030.org/european-commissioner-for-justice-m-didier-reynders-meets-with-wji-2030-to-discuss-corporate-sustainability-and-global-value-chains/
