Mission & Interests
Goals: Bremerhaven-based WAB is the nationwide contact partner for the offshore wind industry in Germany and the leading business network for onshore wind energy in the north-west region. The association fosters the production of "green" hydrogen from wind energy. It comprises some 250 smaller and larger businesses as well as institutes from all sectors of the wind industry, the maritime industry as well as research. WAB e.V. has turned 20 in 2022.

Main EU Legislative Proposals: The last EU legislative proposal we commented has been: COMMUNICATION FROM THE COMMISSION TO THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT, THE COUNCIL, THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COMMITTEE AND THE COMMITTEE OF THE REGIONS - An EU Strategy to harness the potential of offshore renewable energy for a climate
neutral future
Communication Activities: Annual WINDFORCE Conference (18 years + annually in the North Sea and in the Baltic Regions). In 2022 with the Motto: Offshore Wind: Implementing Climate Targets and Creating Employment, 20.-22. June 2022, Bremerhaven | Germany - This year in 2023: "Stronger together: Ramp up cross-industrial supply chains"; Inn2POWER: Connecting Business across Europe: Good reasons for: European offshore wind power (Brochure 2020); German Inland Campaign (Campaign started 2019 - focus: Offshore Wind SME) + Involved in any regulatory discussion in offshore wind and for green hydrogen at the national level. A large number of German-language position papers and campaigns (2015, for example, Offshore Germany's Wind Strength). Last year WAB e.V. started with its Inn2Power partner: "Inn2POWER stimulates innovation and growth of SMEs in the offshore wind industry and provides them with the necessary expertise and support to explore the possibilities and opportunities of green hydrogen." Part of the „go-cluster” programme of the german federal ministry of economics longing for gold certication as innovation cluster.
