Mission & Interests

Goals: We work as a civil association to help Hungary in order to achieve a smoke-free community. We have more than 180 members and over 1100 associate members who support us on this journey since our establishment in 2012. In Hungary, 28,000 people die each year because of smoking. We provide help and advice for people who are looking to stop smoking or would like to switch to safer alternatives. On our website, we educate about the importance of harm reduction, the risks of lifelong smoking and inform our visitors about all the different types of safer alternatives they can choose from. We also have a weekly podcast, where we talk about innovation and new technologies to help people stop smoking. We held yearly meetings where our members and future members can meet, exchange experiences, and encourage each other to stay smoke-free. We send recommendations to the Hungarian parliament to help their cancer reduction strategy.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: We would like to be heard on the topic of harm reduction, and especially seek input in Europe's Beating Cancer Plan. We also take part in helping Hungary's cancer reduction strategy by sending our recommendations to the parliament and we also give advice to Lívia Járóka who is part of the BECA commitee. We also make suggestions in order to help developing new TPD strategies regarding smokeless products. Our main goal is to participate in thematic briefings for interest representatives organised by the General Secretariat of the Council.
