Mission & Interests

Goals: Univerza na Primorskem (UP), Slovenia’s third-largest public university, was established in 2003. The main objective of the university is to carry out high-quality study and research programmes, implementing and integrating them with the educational, intellectual and research potential in accordance with EU initiatives of the European Education Area and European Research Area. UP consists of six faculties and one research centre. UP employs over 400 researchers that focus their studies on: Management, Educational Sciences, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Biodiversity, Mediterranean Agriculture, Sustainable Use of Wood, Health and Disease Prevention, Tourism, Philosophy, Intercultural Studies, History and Heritage, and Linguistics. Over 6000 students study in programmes at all three levels of education. The university has good track-record of involvement in different EU projects in various science & research, development and educational programmes.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: UP is interested in policies and initiatives that inform or involve higher education, research and skills development: EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation: Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe; Vocational Education, Learning, Staff/Student Mobility and Partnerships: Erasmus+; Other EU programmes and initiatives (Environment, Justice, Interreg programmes, COST); Knowledge and Innovation Communities, European Technology Platforms; Open science. Through its educational, research and international cooperation activities, UP supports several EU policies: European Green Deal (circular economy, biodiversity and eco-friendly innovations...) Digital Agenda (AI, HPC, cyber security, digital skills..) Social fairness and prosperity (innovation for growth and jobs, youth employment...) Protection of EU citizens and values (health, food quality & safety, cultural heritage...) International cooperation and development (education mobilities, scientific international cooperations)
