Mission & Interests

Goals: The UPC Montemurro-D'Ippolito, while recognizing itself in the Christian values perpetuated by the Magisterium of the Catholic Church, is non -partisan, non-denominational, non- union , and promotes peaceful dialogue between cultures for the correct integral human development by proposing cultural, educational, training and scientific purposes as well as sports and social welfare non-profit making reference to the historical precedents, functions and role of the Italian Popular Universities, among which first by foundation those of Florence and Naples. The UPC Montemurro-D'Ippolito also intends to promote cultural promotion, in every form and activity, in an intercultural perspective by deepening the dialogue between the religions of the Mediterranean and promot-ing virtuous training courses aimed at building peaceful coexistence between religions and the peoples.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Learning is not limited to a single, specific phase in life, that of the years at school, but also happens in different contexts, over the course of a lifetime. With its strategic framework for European cooperation in education and training, ET2020, the European Union supported the concept of lifelong learning by coordinating cooperation between Member States on training and formal, non-formal, and informal education. "Conclusioni del Consiglio, del 22 maggio 2008, sull'istruzione destinata agli adulti" (2008/C 140/09). "Conclusioni del Consiglio del 12 maggio 2009 su un quadro strategico per la cooperazione europea nel settore dell'istruzione e della formazione («ET 2020»)" (2009/C 119/02). "Council Resolution on a renewed European agenda for adult learning" (2011/C 372/01).
Communication Activities: Again in accordance with the "Council Resolution on a new European agenda for adult learning 2021-2030" et with “Digital Education Action Plan, 2021-27”, the UPC will launch useful programs to build vision of how adult learning should develop in Europe by 2030. The UPC, therefore, will implement its initiatives in the following areas of interest: governance; supply and take-up of lifelong learning opportunities; accessibility and flexibility; quality, equity, inclusion and success in adult learning; the green and digital transitions. The UPC will program courses, seminars, conferences, cultural guided tours and book presentations. The courses will concern: Archeology, History of Art, History of Theater, Social Sciences, Religious Studies, Studies for Peace, Sociology of Inclusion, Atelier of French, English, Spanish, Neapolitan language, IT laboratories, Painting, Gardening, Presepial Art , Photography, Choral, and Music Therapy. Furthermore, in partnership with LUETEC (www.luetec.org) the UPC will participate and collaborate in the activities of the CREATIVE 60+ program (A new model of working with seniors based on creativity and participation). In this context, the UPC has the primary goal of creating new tools for educators working with seniors raising the level of key competencies among seniors in the area of understanding and creating information, personal, social and field of learning as well as cultural awareness and expression. The intent is to improve intergenerational dialogue between people 60+ and the young generation. By activating creative art workshops and physical activities for seniors (walks), the UPC will work to produce a set of scenarios of creative walks dedicated to seniors and a set of art workshops for seniors.

Info Members: The Univ . Pop. Cattolica Montemurro-D'Ippolito (now UPC) is in Naples with a notary public deed duly registered with the Revenue Agency of Naples (n°39442/1T), a no-profit body, established and recognized pursuant to and by effect of Legislative Decree 117/ 2017 (as published in the Official Bulletin of the Lazio Region n°86/2022 and in the Official Bulletin of the Basilicata Region n°52/2022). The UPC was encouraged by the Holy Father Francis and counts the Card. Francesco Monterisi among the founders and Dean of honorary members. The UPC is based in Portici (Naples), and with apostille procedure (n°3199/2022 of 10/18/22) by the Public Prose-cutor of Naples, is legalized in all countries adhering to the Hague Convention of 1961. The UPC Montemurro-D'Ippolito is part of the great tradition of institutions of the Catholic Church and is based on the centrality of the person by promoting intergenerational and intercultural dialogue for an inclusive society.
