Mission & Interests
Goals: The UNCAC Coalition is the global network uniting civil society actors for action against corruption and for the monitoring, implementation, and strengthening of the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).
We mobilize civil society action around the UNCAC; our networks includes some 400 civil society organizations from all continents, operating at the international, regional and national levels.
Our mission is to bolster integrity and reduce corruption by supporting and empowering civil society to collectively promote transparency, accountability and good governance, and to advance the implementation and strengthening of legal frameworks resulting from international agreements, in particular the UNCAC.
The Coalition engages with the EU to advance the implementation of the UNCAC in Europe, and to advance anti-corruption, transparency, and accountability in Europe and around the world.

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Policies linked to advancing anti-corruption, transparency and accountability, in particular:
the EU's implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) and the EU's ongoing UNCAC implementation review;
EU positions in the Conference of the States Parties (CoSP) to the United Nations Convention against Corruption and its subsidiary bodies;
Civic space and civil society participation on issues linked to anti-corruption;
A possible EU Anti-corruption Directive;
EU Rule of Law Reports;
EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive (in particular regarding beneficial ownership transparency);
EU Procurement Directive;
EU Whistleblower Directive;
Anti-Corruption and Human Rights;
EU Asset Recovery Directive;
EU Anti-Corruption Roadmaps, Strategies, Action Plans
Communication Activities: – Engagement with EU officials, including representatives of the EU Commission, the European Parliament and the EU's delegation to the United Nations in Vienna;
– Contributions and submissions to consultations held by the EU Commission;
– Advocacy around the EU's UNCAC implementation review to promote an inclusive and transparency review process;
– Participation in consultations and hearings of the EU Parliament and engagement with MEPs;
– Communication activities, such as events and publications, to inform and impact EU positions on UNCAC implementation and in the UNCAC Conference of States Parties;
– Events, including on the sidelines of UNCAC meetings, including sessions organized in collaboration with the EU delegation to the UN in Vienna;
– Participation of the Chair of an UNCAC Coalition working group in a workshop of the European Parliament's Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI): "Towards an International Anti Corruption Court", 20 March 2023.
– Participation in the EU Network Against Corruption, established by the European Commission; panelist at its first meeting in Brussels on September 20, 2023.
