Mission & Interests
Goals: CDV, Transport Research Centre in English, is a public research institution with more than 65-year successful tradition in transport research and intensive engagement in international cooperation. CDV’s activities reflect its mission which is to perform research and development activities in specified transport areas, to provide independent expert and service support for particular bodies of the state and local administration, to participate in technology transfer within transport sector, to represent the transport resort in international organizations and be active in the field of education, and also to provide expert and service activities for private sector. CDV has been involved in tens various projects of international cooperation i.e., EU Framework Programmes, etc. and became an integrated partner in European research community.

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Regulation (EC) No 661/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 July 2009 concerning type-approval requirements for the general safety of motor vehicles, their trailers and systems, components and separate technical units intended therefor (Text with EEA relevance), as amended;
Regulation (EC) No 78/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 January 2009 on the type-approval of motor vehicles with regard to the protection of pedestrians and other vulnerable road users, amending Directive 2007/46/EC and repealing Directives 2003/102/EC and 2005/66/EC (Text with EEA relevance), as amended;
Directive 2008/96/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 November 2008 on road infrastructure safety management, as amended;
Directive 2004/54/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2004 on minimum safety requirements for tunnels in the Trans-European Road Network, as amended;
Directive 2003/59/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 July 2003 on the initial qualification and periodic training of drivers of certain road vehicles for the carriage of goods or passengers, amending Council Regulation (EEC) No 3820/85 and Council Directive 91/439/EEC and repealing Council Directive 76/914/EEC, as amended;
Participation in the development of the document called EU Construction & Demolition Waste Management Protocol (Ref. Ares(2016)5840668 - 10/10/2016) which was compiled on behalf of the European Commission – this Protocol is part of the Circular Economy Package, the proposed actions should contribute to reaching the target of the Waste Framework Directive i.e. Directive 2008/98/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 November 2008 on waste and repealing certain Directives (Text with EEA relevance).
Communication Activities: Our organisation participates in relevant policy implementation, public relations and communication activities as follows:
- Input both to particular policies and to Framework programmes in the fields mentioned under heading No. 11 (Fields of interest) through position papers, comments, etc. Please, see also the items mentioned above under heading No. 9 (Main EU initiatives, policies and legislative files followed by the organisation);

- Young Researchers Seminar – aimed at the preparation of a new generation of transport scientists and science based professionals in the area of transport (https://www.ectri.org/activities/young-researchers-seminar/);
- ETRR (European Transport Research Review) Journal - a peer-reviewed open access journal publishing original high-quality scholarly research and developments in areas related to transportation science, technologies, policy and practice (https://ectri.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/2018-09-03_ETRR-Leaflet_September_2018.pdf).
