Mission & Interests
Goals: TransnetBW operates the electricity transmission grid in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The network consists of around 3,200 kilometres of 220kV and 380kV power lines and more than 80 power substations, which connect the grid to the 110kV regional distribution grids. Together with our project partners, TransnetBW is currently working to expand this network beyond its control area, notably with the projects Suedlink and Ultranet, which are part of the German Network Development Plan , ENTSO-E’s Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP) and declared as Projects of Common Interest (PCIs). As a transmission grid operator, TransnetBW is responsible for operating, maintaining, planning and expanding the transmission network. TransnetBW makes the transmission grid available to all market participants on transparent, non-discriminatory terms.

Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: We mainly observe initiatives in the areas of energy, climate and environment policies, especially on the topics of grid development and regulation of the energy market as well as in the area of the Green Deal and here in particular the Fit-For-55 Package. More specifically we are currently interested in the following initiatives:
Implementation of the EU Taxonomy Regulation (EU) 2020/852
Revision of the Commission Regulation on Capacity Allocation and Congestion Management (EU) 2015/1222)
Revision of the Electricity Market Design: Regulations (EU) 2019/943 and (EU) 2019/942 as well as Directives (EU)
2018/2001 and (EU) 2019/944 and Regulations (EU) No 1227/2011 and (EU) 2019/942 and their implementation
Proposal for the Net Zero Industry Act and its implementation
The Implementation of the European Commission's proposed Grids Action Plan and Wind Action Plan
Communication Activities: We present our positions and recommendations by means of position papers, proposals for amendments, bilateral meetings, our quarterly Newsletter ‘TRANSPARENT’ and policy events. We are aiming at gathering relevant pieces of information concerning legislative proposals and political initiatives. Additionally, we participate in conferences and discussion forums, which gives us the possibility to be in constant contact with other stakeholders of the energy sector and to co-operate within ENTSO-E.
We contribute to the afore listed policy work through our own studies and research on the operation and further development of the interconnected power system.
