Mission & Interests

Goals: The Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM) provides analytical support to decision-makers and diplomats, initiates public debate and disseminates expert knowledge about contemporary international relations. The Institute carries out its own research, cooperates on international research projects, prepares reports and analyses and collaborates with institutions with a similar profile worldwide. PISM researchers conduct interdisciplinary and comparative research into international relations and Polish foreign policy, Poland’s membership of the EU and NATO, international and energy security, Poland’s bilateral relations, in particular with neighbouring countries. Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Institutional reform, revision of the Multiannual Financial Framework, review of the economic governance framework, migration and asylum pact, enlargement policy, CFSP, CSDP, Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform, Net-Zero Industry Act, Critical Raw Materials Act, Common Agricultural Policy, Recovery and Resilience Facility, Screening of FDI in strategic sectors, Anti-coercion mechanism, Carbon border adjustment mechanism.
Communication Activities: PISM researchers prepare analyses and studies containing recommendations on various aspects of EU policies. These studies are available on PISM website and sent directly to selected stakeholders. PISM also seeks to promote its recommendations through organisation of seminars and debates addressed in particular to politicians, parliamentarians, civil servants, academics, journalists, students and representatives of other think tanks and NGOs.
