Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: Brookings is organized into five research programs that focus on economic studies, metropolitan studies, governance, global economy and development, and foreign policy. The Foreign Policy Program under the leadership of its Vice President and Director Suzanne Maloney, the Global Economy and Development Program under the leadership of its Vice President and Director Brahima Coulibaly, and the Governance Studies program under the leadership of its interim Vice President and Director Camille Busette, conduct research that helps stakeholders and the public understand and address on one hand, the dynamics of world affairs and the challenges they pose to the international community, and on the other, how leaders can build more equitable and sustainable governance and economic systems that deliver prosperity and well-being for all. Thematic areas of focus include established and emerging powers; redefining security; the intersection of politics, economics and security; transatlantic relations; harnessing technology for inclusive growth and development; governance of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies; privacy; digital trade; climate policy and action for sustainable inclusive growth and development; global education and skills development; sustainable financing for development; and renewed multilateralism and evolving institutions for international cooperation. The Brookings Institution, especially its scholars within the Foreign Policy, Governance Studies and Global Economy and Development Programs, follows and analyzes developments in the EU and its institutions in order to 1) understand the dynamics of world affairs and the challenges and opportunities they pose to the international community, and 2) generate research and analysis to inform policies and institutions that promote sustainable peace, security, good governance and prosperity around the world.
Communication Activities: Brookings communicates its research, analysis and policy findings through reports, books, monographs, articles, blog posts, op-eds, meetings, events, media appearances, congressional testimony and briefings.

Info Members: The number of persons at Brookings involved in researching, publishing and convening on the activities of the EU varies across programs and from year to year, depending on the research priorities of the various programs, centers, and initiatives within the institution, and the research agendas of the individual scholars.
The Brookings Center on the United States and Europe (CUSE) specifically covers transatlantic relations, and therefore is regularly involved in research and related activities on EU-related topics. Other Brookings programs, and their affiliated scholars and staff, follow the work of EU structures and bodies as part of their overall research activities.
