Mission & Interests

Goals: SLU är ett universitet med samlad kunskap om ett hållbart nyttjande av de biologiska naturresurserna, inom miljö och inom livsvetenskaperna. Verksamheten spänner från gener och molekyler till biologisk mångfald, djurhälsa, bioenergi och livsmedelsförsörjning. Samhällsplanering, hållbar utveckling av stad och land, samt globala frågor, som ett förändrat klimat, finns också på agendan. I stora drag handlar det om hur man med bibehållen välfärd för människor och djur kan bruka biologiska naturresurser i skog, mark och vatten utan att förbruka dem. Denna grundtanke genomsyrar universitetets utbildning, forskning och miljöanalys. SLU:s kunskap är efterfrågad såväl hos beslutsfattare som inom den gröna sektorn (jordbruk, skogsbruk, fiske, industri etc.).
