Mission & Interests

Goals: Fingo is an NGO platform and an expert on global development. We represent 270 Finnish civil society organisations and strive to build a fairer world for all. Fingo and its member organisations work to make life better – for everyone. Kepa and the Finnish NGDO Platform to the European Union, Kehys, have formed a new umbrella organisation: Finnish Development NGOs – Fingo. Kehys used to be a member of the transparency register (ID number: 00358354936-30) Fingo functions as an umbrella organisation of 270 member organisations working in the areas of sustainable development, development cooperation and global citizenship education. We firmly believe that knowledge drives sustainable development. That's why Fingo works hard to strengthen and amplify people’s understanding of the solutions that are available – and challenges decision makers to act, while encouraging individuals and communities to actively participate.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: We have participated and will continue our advocacy work in following processes: EU Council recommendation on learning for the green transition and sustainable development (2022) Council conclusions on the transformative role of ESD and GCE as an instrumental tool for the achievement of the SDGs (2022) Influencing the EU-AU Summit and the follow-up to its commitments including the outlining of a proposal for a mechanism for engagement with civil society in the AU-EU Partnership in dialogue with DG INTPA Advocacy work on proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence actively following the EU Gender Action Plan (GAP) III implementation as well as the new Inequality Marker. European Climate Law: communication with Finnish MEP on this Some participation in our umbrella organisations’ advocacy work. Important umbrella organisations for us are Concord, Climate Action Network, and Eurodad.
Communication Activities: We have participated and will continue our communications efforts in following processes: European Year of Skills: we organised an event in the European Parliament in June 2023 commentary of the voluntary review of Sustainable Development Goals in UN High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development
