Goals: Strategic Minerals Spain is a Spanish mining company, focused on the development of long-term Mining Projects, using a modern and sustainable mining, and at the same time being responsible for the society and the environment. The company was incorporated in 2011 and operates the only active Tantalum and Niobium mine in Europe since the end of 2017, the Penouta mine, in Spain, after 6 years of intensive mining research. Participation in the preparation of the 2019 JRC Science for Policy Report (Recovery of critical and other raw materials from mining waste and landrills. State of play on existing practices), with the writing of its own chapter on the recovery of Sn, Ta and Nb of mining waste at the Penouta mine. (https://publications.jrc.ec.europa.eu/repository/handle/JRC116131) Since December 2020 Strategic Minerlas Spain is a partner of ERMA (European Raw Materials Alliance) Currently working as Project Partner in the TARANTULA H2020 project (Grant Agreement No 821159 - https://h2020-tarantula.eu) “Recovery of Tungsten, Niobium and Tantalum occurring as by-products in mining and processing waste streams” (TARANTULA) Call: CE-SC5- 06-2018 - New technologies for the enhanced recovery of by-products. TARANTULA will develop a suite of cost-effective, scalable and eco-friendly – bio-, hydro-, iono-, solvo-, pyro and electro-metallurgical – processes with high selectivity and recovery rates towards new routes for market ready metals, metal oxides and metal carbides. Since June 2021, the company has been selected as a member of the DG Grow governance group of EIP on Raw Materials
