Goals: Mission: We work with partners and other allies to support all stakeholders to play an active role in preventing and transforming violent conflict and promoting inclusive and sustainable societies through a combination of action and research.
Our work focuses on three Interrelated Strategic Priorities
Inclusive engagement for peace: We support civil society and other actors through collaborative joint engagement in research, action, policy influencing, and capacity enhancement.
Policy engagement and awareness-raising: We engage directly and in collaboration with others on raising awareness among policymakers by supporting inclusive policy development processes on issues affecting peace and conflict in people's lived experiences.
Collaborative learning to enhance practice and policy: Through learning and documentation, we both improve our practice and share our knowledge and experience with relevant stakeholders.

Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: LPI works, mainly through the European Peacebuilding Liaison Office (EPLO), to inform the development and implementation of the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and more specifically its Integrated Approach to External Conflicts and Crises. In particular, it aims to promote peacebuilding principles and approaches for more equitable partnerships in the EU’s external action, such as sustained dialogue, participatory action research, conflict and gender sensitivity, participatory policy engagement, and quality financing.
Policies it seeks to influence include the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument – Global Europe (NDICI - GE). In this framework, it seeks to influence the Multiannual Indicative Programmes (MIPs) and the Annual Action Programmes (AAPs) of the 2021 – 2027 thematic programmes on “Peace, Stability and Conflict Prevention” (which a specific focus on Area of Intervention 1: Assistance for Conflict Prevention, Peacebuilding and Crisis Preparedness) and for “Civil Society Organisations”.
LPI also works actively on the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) and Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agendas and seeks to influence the implementation of the EU Youth Strategy (2019-2027), the EU Youth Plan (2022-2027), EU Action Plan on WPS (2019-2024) and the Action Plan on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment in External Action 2021–2025 (GAP III).
LPI, which works in the Horn of Africa, also seeks to influence geographic policies such as the EU Strategy in the Horn of Africa, the Africa-EU partnership and geographic MIPs, including the 2021 – 2027 MIPs for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Kenya, and Somalia and the 2024 – 2027 MIP for Ethiopia. It also engages with the EU on specific country strategies and Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) missions, such as the Somalia – EU Joint Operational Roadmap: A Renewed Focused Engagement and the European Union Capacity Building Mission in Somalia (EUCAP Somalia). LPI has seeks to influence the EU Country Roadmaps for Engagement with Civil Society in Kenya (2022 – 2025) and in Somalia (2021 – 2025).
Communication Activities: LPI takes part in EPLO Civil Society Dialogue Network events (See: http://eplo.org/activities/ongoing-projects/). It has organised, together with EPLO, several Brown Bag Lunch events (See: http://eplo.org/activities/eplo-brown-bag-lunch-events/). It also engaged bilaterally with officials from the European External Action Service and the European Commission’s Directorate General for International Partnerships.
