Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Commit Global will engage in a strategic dialogue with the European Union's institutions on the Union’s digitization and digitalization process, particularly with a focus on civil society organisations and their beneficiaries. Commit Global is looking to create an integrated ecosystem of civic technology and deploy this infrastructure globally. The core objectives of Commit Global’s influencing activities regard the creation and maintenance of a common and shared digital infrastructure for social good across the EU. Additionally, Commit Global advocates for the integration of the share and reuse principle in the creation of digital infrastructure through EU policies or legislative proposals, and for the creation of open source technology for social good. The immediate applications of the civic technology infrastructure reside in the civic, humanitarian and climate areas, these being the sectors Commit Global intends to advocate within. - Interoperable Europe Act - eIDAS Regulation - Single Digital Gateway - Regulations on interoperability between EU information systems - Digitalisation of Travel Documents Humanitarian: - EU policies on humanitarian aid, disaster risk reduction, triple nexus, resilience, climate change, preparedness, anticipatory actions - EU budget for development and humanitarian aid - EU relations with NGOs and civil society actors - EU sanctions and counterterrorism measures impacting humanitarian aid delivery - Just Transition Fund - EU Development Policy Tech Infrastructure - European Data Strategy and the European Data Economy - General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) - Legislation on Data Retention - European Parliament’s own initiative reports - Digital Single Market - Digital Services Package - ePrivacy Regulation
