Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Societe Generale proactively engages with all relevant stakeholders in the EU institutional process by providing technical expertise on banking and finance. As such, the Group regularly contributes to the consultations issued by various European bodies. In a year 2023 which has been particularly active, banks have more than ever been part of the solution and have actively engaged with EU authorities to keep financing the real economy and contributed to resilient and strong recovery. Our main areas of focus this year included: the completion of the Banking Union & prudential regulation (EU transposition of Basel III); the financial markets regulation (MIFIR, EMIR, CMU package); digital issues (Fintech, DLT-based finance, cybersecurity, data act, open finance and CBDC) and green/sustainable finance (feeding into the debates around the European Grean Deal, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive).
