Mission & Interests
Goals: SHARKPROJECT has been founded more than 15 years ago by Gerhard Wegner, as an advocacy for sharks and a vision to transform the image of sharks in the public: from the image of monsters and man-eaters into an image of top predators, which are vital to healthy ecosystems and therefore the, survival of both, our ocean and the blue planet itself, and to provide livelihoods for this and future generations.
SHARKPROJECT aims to generate knowledge in the public domain and appreciation for these endangered species and their important role in the marine ecosystems. Education of both, adults and even more importantly children is a key objective of our mission.
However, in order to protect sharks and rays which are by now globally endangered, the complete marine ecosystem in which they live needs to be protected.
