Goals: SEASALT Europe is the European organisation of Sea Saltworks. Sea salt production is one of the most sustainable activities that exist due to the fact that we produce it from seawater with the help of the sun and the wind. The result: a huge wetland rich in biodiversity, whose most characteristic symbol is the flamingo. We collaborate with different organizations, entities, companies, agencies and other stakeholders to ensure the well-being of a sector that is essential for the environmental health of our planet.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: * Sodium chloride has been approved as a precursor to the active substance active chlorine generated by sodium chloride by electrolysis, so we are interested in everything related to the Regulation (EU) No 528/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 May 2012 concerning the making available on the market and use of biocidal products * Regulation 2018/848 (UE) included sea salt and other food and feed salts within its scope. We are particularly interested in this regulation because the specific techniques for organic salt production must be defined * Sea salt marshes are located in areas of special protection regulated by the Directives Habitats (Council Directive 92/43/EEC) and Birds (Directive 2009/147/EC). * Interest in the Biodiversity strategy due to the type of sites where sea salt marshes are located * Blue Economy: sea salt production is one of the activities recognized in the Blue Economy
