Goals: The Scottish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (SHFCA) promotes and develops Scottish expertise in fuel cells and hydrogen technologies.
SHFCA brings together Scotland’s specialised fuel cell companies, energy utilities, industry, academic institutions, research and development bodies, specialist consultants, Scottish Enterprise, Highlands & Islands Enterprise, South of Scotland Enterprise, cities and local authorities with an interest in Hydrogen & Fuel Cells.
SHFCA membership is open to all-comers, and includes a significant number of members throughout Europe and internationally.

Main EU Legislative Proposals: The deployment of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies supports the deployment of low carbon energy and transport technologies, reducing the threat of damaging climate change.
SHFCA follows policies on environment, energy, and transport. SHFCA also has a focus on safety, wellbeing, and achieving a Just Transition to a low carbon economy.
Communication Activities: SHFCA holds regular member events. These are mostly open to non-members and are typically free to attend.
SHFCA supports wider communications about the benefits of hydrogen and fuel cells at industry conferences and technical seminars, as well as public events.

Complementary Information: The above annual grant for 2021-22 represents the estimated contribution to SHFCA operating costs from participation in the Horizon 2020 BIG HIT project, which is supported by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership (previously the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking 2), an EU public-private partnership. This contribution is estimated as one sixth of the overall BIG HIT grant to SHFCA over the six years of the BIG HIT project from 1st May 2016 to 30th April 2022.
