Goals: Scientific and Research Center for Fire Protection - the National Research Institute (CNBOP-PIB) is a research institute of the State Fire Service, supervised by the Minister of the Interior - the only institution of this type in Poland. Owned equipment, apparatus and research capabilities make CNBOP-PIB a tool for shaping the appropriate level of safety in fire protection, crisis management, civil protection and civil defense. Qualified staff conducts a wide range of scientific - research and expert works. Issues related to conformity assessment of products and services are particularly important. Laboratory teams carry out research in the field of technical equipment of fire brigades, technical fire protection systems, handheld firefighting equipment, extinguishing agents and sorbents, fire properties of materials, the phenomena of fire development and spread, as well as combustion and explosive processes.

Main EU Legislative Proposals: CNBOP-PIB participates in issuing opinions on documents relating to the areas of environmental protection, fire safety, science and education, and international cooperation.

Communication Activities: CNBOP-PIB and its employees take part in the Commission public consultation in the field of environmental protection, public safety in terms of ensuring fire safety.
