Mission & Interests
Goals: The mission and ultimate goal of the Roma Education Fund (REF) is to close the gap in educational outcomes between Roma and non-Roma. In order to achieve this goal, REF supports policies and programs which ensure quality education for Roma, including the desegregation of education systems in the countries that were participating in the Decade of Roma Inclusion, and in other interested countries. Preparation of this action is based on long-term implementation of actions aimed at supporting Roma children and youth at all educational levels, with the aim to introduce an integrated approach in the countries where REF already implements activities and to expand the activities to new areas/countries with a significant number of Roma population.
Since 2005, the Roma Education Fund (REF) network has gained extensive experience and knowledge about the types of interventions and approaches to Roma education that produce results on the ground in 16 countries in Europe.
