Mission & Interests

Goals: The cultural diversity and “living lab” aspects of Capital cities, the proximity to governing bodies, their technological, cultural and innovative capacity, and the opportunities they provide as powerful economic and commercial centers, create a special environment for UNICA Members. As capital-based Universities, UNICA Members face similar issues but have also the opportunity – and responsibility – to maximize their potential and play a crucial role in supporting our societies to address global challenges and shaping a better future. UNICA aims at building on the specific profile of its Members to widen and strengthen international collaborations, engage academic leadership, and facilitate networking among academic communities through understanding and sharing between its Members throughout the European Higher Education and Research Areas.

Main EU Legislative Proposals: European Green Deal, European Pillar of Social Rights, European Education Area/European Higher Education Area, European New Skills Agenda, Education and Training 2030, Paris Declaration, Erasmus+ Programme, MFF, EQF, Digital Education Action Plan, European Research Area.
Communication Activities: UNICA's communication activities focus on (a) raising awareness, (b) engaging our community in relevant consultations and (c) actively engaging in policy processes through our EU projects and by publishing papers created in partnership with our members and other relevant stakeholders. Based on the expected outcome and focus of an activity, UNICA develops certain activities that are exclusive for members and others who are open to larger audiences.
