Mission & Interests
Goals: Based in Brussels, FiBL Europe was founded in 2017 to represent the four national FiBL research institutes (FiBL Switzerland, FiBL Germany, FiBL Austria, FiBL France) and the Hungarian research institute of organic agriculture ÖMKi at a European level. FiBL Europe benefits from the backing and expertise of its board, which comprises the directors of the national FiBL offices as well as the expertise of over 300 FiBL researchers dealing with a broad range of scientific disciplines applied to organic and sustainable agricultural practices. FiBL Europe is a key research network on organic food and agriculture at a European level, and provides an access point for the full competences of the national FiBL institutes. It offers applied research, consultancy and training.

Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: FiBL follows the overall developments in EU agri-food policies, a specific focus is devoted to those that have an impact on the organic sector. Particular attention is also given to the modifications of the current CAP and on the reforms debated for the upcoming one (beyond 2027).
Additionally, FiBL is engaged in debates around research & innovation needs in food & farming, with a specific interest in the implementation of Horizon Europe and the preparation of the successor Framework Programme.
Communication Activities: FiBL Europe acts as a coordinator and as consortium partner in several research projects funded by Horizon 2020/Horizon Europe. Events are often organized within the scope of these projects and these often involve the participation of representatives from the EU institutions. Similarly, publications, both deriving from EU-funded projects or own research by FiBL are disseminated to the EU institutions, via communication activities or, in specific cases, with the organization of ad-hoc events.
