Mission & Interests
Goals: Re-Imagine Europa (RIE) is a non-partisan think-tank founded by President Valéry Giscard d’Estaing as the first “incubator” for new political ideas, in honour of his partnership and friendship with Chancellor Helmut Schmidt and their efforts to define a future that goes beyond personal, national or partisan interests.
Working in collaboration with an international network of members, strategic partners and knowledge partners, RIE strives for an interdisciplinary approach to its research, aided by an in-house narrative team led by leading social psychologists.
The objective of Re-Imagine Europa is to reinforce Europe’s role as a global leader in the areas of democratic practice, fiscal responsibility, and environmental sustainability in order to safeguard a prosperous future of peace, freedom, and social justice for all citizens.

Another aspect of the work we do includes working with media, data scientists, and cognitive scientists to better understand public discourse, how information spreads on social media, the level of penetration of evidence in public discourse, and what narratives are used in framing the European dialogue. The exercise aims to better understand European public discourse in its nuances and find ways to work with media and other organisations to ensure a more robust and evidence-based discussion.
