Mission & Interests

Goals: Quest is an independent, democratic and participatory network of European organisations connecting pioneering education changemakers in Europe, promoting action-research on innovative education and advocating for change in the European learning landscape. Together with its members, QUEST is promoting democratic, inclusive and sustainable education. Our main goal is to spread quality education, intended here as a process that allows the development of everyone's full potential (connection to oneself), to interact responsibly with others (connection to others) and to serve society and the planet (connection to the world).

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Through its work, QUEST answers to a broad set of EU legislative policies and proposals, including : The European Education Area, its priority areas and targets by 2050; The European Pillar of Social Rights; The 2023 European Year of Skills and the 2022 European Year of Youth. Through the democratic education approach, based on human rights, QUEST contributes to: The 2021 EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child; The European Entrepreneurship Competence Framework; The 2023 Council conclusions on the contribution of education and training to strengthening common European values and democratic citizenship; The 2022 Council Recommendation for Pathways to School Success; The 2018 Council Recommendation on Key Competences for Lifelong Learning; The 2021 Council Recommendation on blended learning for high quality and inclusive primary and secondary education. Through inclusive education projects and communications, QUEST contributes to: The 2021-2030 Strategy for the rights of persons with disabilities; The 2020-2025 Gender equality strategy; The 2018 Council Recommendation on Common values, Inclusive Education and the European Dimension of Teaching. Through nature-based education projects and communications, QUEST contributes to : The EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030; The European Green Deal; The European sustainability competence framework; The 2022 - Council Recommendation on learning for the green transition and sustainable development. QUEST is also seeking to expand its work on digital education, when interlinked with democratic, inclusive and nature education. Therefore, QUEST could soon contribute to the following policies: The Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027);The European Digital Competence Framework.
Communication Activities: QUEST disseminates evidenced-based knowledge around these policies through different means: - Articles published on its website and social media - Position papers - Guidelines for educators, schools or education organisations, EU and national decision makers - Research papers and scientific publications - QUEST’s general and members’ dedicated newsletters - Documentaries and other video deliverables sharing insights on cutting-edge pedagogies and how to implement them - Training on cutting-edge pedagogies (education in nature, democratic education, sociocracy in schools, open-schooling, inclusive education…) - Member forums and other events, on a dedicated pedagogy, policy framework or EU project making

Organisation Members: QUEST is a member of EUDEC (European Democratic Education Community) and is now considering joining other networks such as the Lifelong Learning Platform’s network as well as the EASPD membership.
