Mission & Interests

Goals: Yhdistys on aatteellisesti, poliittisesti ja uskonnollisesti sitoutumaton suomalaisten puoluerekisterissä olevien eduskuntapuolueiden yhteistyöyhdistys, joka toimii demokratian edistämiseksi toteuttamalla ja mahdollistamalla suomalaisten puolueiden ja kehitysmaiden poliittisten liikkeiden välisiä yhteistyöhankkeita. Yhteistyöhankkeiden tavoitteena on edistää niihin osallistuvien tahojen välistä vuoropuhelua ja molemminpuolista oppimista demokratian toimintatavoista, ongelmista ja mahdollisuuksista. Yhdistys toteuttaa yhdistyksen jäsenpuolueiden yhteisiäbvuoropuhelu- ja koulutushankkeita kehitysmaiden poliittisten liikkeiden kanssa. Yhdistys voi tukea myös jäsenpuolueiden omia, yhteisesti hyväksytyt kriteerit täyttäviä hankkeita.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Demo Finlandin toimet kohdistuvat enimmäkseen kehityspolitiikkaan ja kansainväliseen yhteistyöhön Euroopan unionin viitekehyksessä. Advocacy at the EU level was done in co-operation with the umbrella organisation of European democracy organisations, the European Partnership for Democracy (EPD). Demo Finland was actively involved in advocacy work through EPD by offering input on the EU Action Plan on Human Rights and Democracy 2020–2024 Mid-Term Review and the Rule of Law report 2022.
Communication Activities: Vuosiraportissamme on kerrottu viestinnästämme: https://demofinland.org/en/annual-report-2022/ Two papers on gender equality were produced within the international networks. Within Political Party Peer Network (PPPeer), Demo Finland together with The Oslo Center, the National Democratic Institute and International IDEA produced a joint paper on violence against women in politics. It presents interventions for political parties on how to prevent and address any form of violence against women in politics to strengthen women’s participation and representation in politics and political decision-making. Together with International IDEA, Demo Finland produced a comprehensive study on the political context in Ethiopia with an emphasis on gender equality in politics.
