Mission & Interests

Goals: PFP's mission is to represent the European primary food processing industries'interests, at the level of both European and international institutions. In order to fulfill its mission, PFP has three principal functions: 1. to promote the European primary food processing industry's views to the European institutions, international organisations and other interested bodies; 2. to improve understanding of its operational requirements, especially in responding to Members of the European Parliament, European Commission's consultative bodies and services, international organisations' consultations and through liaison with other parties, in particular the European farmers and partners in the food supply chain; 3. to provide information and advice to its members on a wide range of common subjects

Info Members: PFP has no staff. However, the staff of the 6 member associations (see paragraph 12.) carry out the work that is commonly agreed on a voluntary basis. The prescribed format of this register does not allow appropriate description of the situation. We estimate our FTE at 2, but about 18-20 managers provide a small share (+/- 10%) of their time for carrying out PFP work.

Organisation Members: PFP does not belong to any other federation but cooperates on an ad hoc basis with other organisations such as COPA-COGECA, FoodDrinkEurope, COCERAL or FEFAC, with a view to strengthen the approaches and positions taken in the field of food and feed safety and industry supply. PFP has joined the European Bioeconomy Alliance (EUBA) in 2014. PFP has joined the European Food Forum (EFF) in 2020.
