Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: PCEP has made several ambitious voluntary commitments aligned to the European Plastics Strategy including to: Increase the volume of recycled post-consumer polyolefin content used in European products to 4 million tonnes a year by 2025, an increase of 2 million tonnes. Reuse or recycle 60% of collected polyolefin packaging by 2030. Ensure more than 75% of polyolefin packaging is designed for recycling by 2030 and improve the collection and sorting system.
Polyolefins are highly versatile and valuable materials used across a wide variety of sectors. As a result PCEP follows all EU initiatives, policies and legislation relevant to our mission to transform the polyolefin system to a circular economy. For example, European Plastics Strategy, Circular Plastics Alliance, EU Green Deal, Circular Economy Action Plan, Green Claims, End of life vehicles Directive, Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation, Waste Shipment, Regulation on Food Contact Materials.
Communication Activities: PCEP is an active participant in the Circular Plastics Alliance, a voluntary initiative launched with the support of the European Commission. PCEP will also contribute to EU policy work as relevant to achieving our mission and in particular the major applications for polyolefins. For example taking part in stakeholder consultations on issues related to legislation governing packaging, waste, food contact materials, the implementation of the Circular Economy package etc.
PCEP intends to organize an annual conference, bringing together the full value chain (our members) and external actors (e.g. representatives of EU institutions, civil society, media) to discuss issues of relevance to our mission.
The PCEP website contains a news page which is updated regularly to share information about our activities in a transparent manner.
