As a faith-based global network, PCI promotes a comprehensive vision of Peace, which includes a global framework of just structures and systems that promote unquestioned respect for basic human rights and ecological sustainability. Main EU Legislative Proposals: One of the core means of engagement of Pax Christi International is to coordinate and represent the global movement in all its breadth on the international stage (Council of Europe, UN, EU). Regarding the EU, we participate in consultations, organise and participate in events in the EU context, issue advocacy materials and have contacts with EU officials with our members from the South.
We work together with other civil society organisations through various networks. We are specifically focusing on the following policies:
- EU policies and budgets promoting conflict prevention and peacebuilding
- EU trade and business policies, such the sustainable development chapters of trade agreements and the new EU legislation on mandatory due diligence for companies regarding human rights and the environment.
- EU policies regarding the African, Latin American and Carribean regions in support of our regional projects.
- EU policies on Israel-Palestine and for a new peace process for the Middle East.
- EU policies with regard to UN multilateral processes, such as the SDGs, a new Treaty on business and human rights and the Nuclear Weapons Ban Treaty.
