Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: We are currently monitoring EU legislative initiatives relating to the gaming industry, namely: Implementation of the EC Communication on the European Framework for online gambling (COM (2012) 596 final) and the Council Recommendation on principles for the protection of consumers and players of online gambling services and for the prevention of minors from gambling online (2014/478/EU); Proposal COM (2017) 0386 re: the Council of Europe Convention on the manipulation of sports competitions with regard to matters related to substantive criminal law and judicial cooperation in criminal matters (against match fixing); Implementation of the 2024 Anti-money laundering package: Regulation establishing a new EU AML/CFT Authority; Regulation on AML/CFT, containing directly-applicable rules, including in the areas of Customer Due Diligence and Beneficial Ownership; sixth Directive on AML/CFT (“AMLD6”), replacing the existing Directive 2015/849/EU (the fourth AML directive as amended by the fifth AML directive), containing provisions that will be transposed into national law, such as rules on national supervisors and Financial Intelligence Units in Member States and finally the revision of the 2015 Regulation on Transfers of Funds to trace transfers of crypto-assets (Regulation 2015/847/EU). Implementation of Directive (EU) 2018/1808 - Audiovisual Media Services Directive; Implementation of Regulation (EU) 2018/302 - Geo-blocking Regulation ; Implementation of the Regulation (EU) 2018/1807 - free flow of non- personal data Regulation; Implementation of the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 - GDPR Regulation; Consumer protection strategy and follow up; Fair Taxation of the Digital Economy - developments at EU and OECD level; Trade policy, FTAs; EU digital strategy: - DSA, DMA, Data Act - E-IDAS, Artificial Intelligence Act and non contractual civil liability for use of AI applications, NIS2. Corporate non financial reporting and Corporate sustainability due diligence. Taxonomy (policies, legislation) Energy: electricity market review.
Communication Activities: We report to our clients updates relating to the above mentioned policies. We prepare engagement material (letters, mails, argumentation documents, facts & figures). We organise, participate and actively contribute, as appropriate, to EC public consultations and to meetings with representatives of the EU Institutions and other stakeholders. Finally we provide strategic advice on governance. Current activities subject to the EC transparency register focus on the AML package, sustainability and taxonomy.
