Mission & Interests
Goals: De OVAM spant zich dagelijks in voor een kwaliteitsvol en efficiënt afval-, materialen- en bodembeheer in Vlaanderen.
We zetten onze schouders onder zes duidelijke doelstellingen:
de afvalberg verkleinen;
afval hergebruiken en recycleren;
afval milieuvriendelijk verwerken;
de omslag naar kringloopeconomie – een economie waarin goederen duurzaam worden geproduceerd en hergebruikt – inzetten;
het saneren van verontreinigde gronden;
het voorkomen van nieuwe bodemverontreinigingen.
Samen met burgers, bedrijven en collega-overheden maakten we van Vlaanderen de afgelopen decennia een toonaangevende regio. Maar we willen onze samenleving verder sturen richting duurzaam ruimtegebruik en gesloten materialenkringlopen.

Organisation Members: coördinatie comité internationaal milieubeleid (CCIM): CCIM is a structure that has been set up to coordinate the BE positions on EU legislative proposals. OVAM - the public waste agency of Flanders - is a subnational authority competent for waste management policies, circular economy policies and soil remediation policies and contributes to the coordination of BE positions for EU legislative proposals that are relevant for OVAM's competences.
