Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: Our main interest is Horizon Europe and the associated policies which relate to publication of academic research in Europe - these policies are tending to influence open access publishing and open science, the prevalence of which are in line with our mission and purpose. We are also involved in a multi-stakeholder project (DIAMAS), funded by the European Commission, which seeks to build capacity for institutional-based open access publishing in Europe, our interest in which being to drive towards open access policies for more European countries than there are presently. Finally we are involved in the EC funded PALOMERA project which aims to align open access book policy in Europe.
Communication Activities: We organise an annual conference to bring together key stakeholders in open access publishing, to discuss developments and share experiences.
We hold free public webinars on key issues in open access publishing and open scholarship more broadly with leading speakers from around the world.
We have reviewed and endorsed the Wellcome Trust's Open Access Monograph Guide for Publishers.
Our membership criteria and published 'Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing' reflect developments in scholarly communications. We have collaborated on the Think. Check. Submit. initiative to help identify quality and best practice in scholarly publishing.
