Mission & Interests

Goals: Ocean Energy Europe is a membership organisation set up to represent the ocean energy sector to the European Commission, Parliament and Council. OEE acts as a hub for information and networking for European industry players, the research community, national trade associations and Member States. OEE's goal is to leverage financial and political support for the ocean energy sector. OEE works closely with the Commission and Member State authorities to promote a level playing field for ocean energy developers in the single European market.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Energy and climate policy European Green Deal Renewable energy Energy Market European Framework for Strategic Investment R&D policy, SET-Plan Horizon 2020 / Horizon Europe Blue economy and maritime affairs
Communication Activities: Ocean Energy Europe is the representative of the ocean renewable energy industry in the EU and works to achieve EU targets and objectives through the creation of a strong ocean energy industry in Europe. To do this it works on a number of key dossiers such as the 2030 Climate & Energy Framework, EU Emissions Trading System, the Maritime Spatial Planning Directive, Blue Growth, the European Fund for Strategic Investment, the Ocean Energy Forum, Horizon 2020 and Parliamentary reports such as the Innovation in the Blue Economy report. Each year, Ocean Energy Europe organises its annual conference and exhibition in strategically important Member States, bringing together European Commission representatives, European ministers, companies, universities and research institutes. The event provides the industry with an opportunity to assess developments to date and to agree on a vision for the future Ocean Energy Europe contributes to a number of other strategically important ocean energy projects including ETIP Ocean, SmartSpend (both Horizon 2020) and Ocean DEMO (Interreg NWE project).
