Mission & Interests

Goals: METREX has currently 59 member organisations from all over Europe. We are a practitioners’ network, for people who work in public organisations that have to translate often abstract policies into working solutions. We continuously seek for best practices and contribute to next best practices. METREX collaborates with other networks such as EMA (European Metropolitan Authorities), Eurocities, ICLEI and recently with NARC, and we are also closely linked to the scientific community and other knowledge organisations.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Cohesion policy, we support members in applying and tailoring solutions that address Cohesion Policy General Affairs, we support members in improving their institutions and governance models in order to deliver better, faster and more transparent. Environment, we support members in developing concrete solutions to address the climate challenges, and exchange on best practices. Urban-Rural, we support members in developing a better balance between the urban and rural, economically, socially, by promoting better mobility, foodstrategies on regional level, awareness raising
Communication Activities: METREX has two conferences per year, hosted by our member regions, which bring us all over Europe. Here we bring the local communities and experts together with experts from. all over Europe to learn best practices from each other. METREX has Expert Groups that look into specific areas such as Balancing the Urban&Rural, Climate Challenge, Productive City, Affordable and Sustainable Housing, Governance, and to supra regional networks groups, The Baltic Nordic and the Eurodelta. METREX brings out news letters and specific publications, we take part in other conferences and events and are associated member or the scientific network EURA.
