For road transportation MI has technical liaison status with two EU CEN TC19 working groups.
MI is represented in the Sub Group for Advanced Biofuels (DG ENER).
The development of low emission, alternative marine fuels is an important focus area, and MI is represented in the European Sustainable Shipping Forum (ESSF; DG MOVE).
MI has also actively participated in SCOT workshops regarding CO2 utilization, and continues to work with DG ENER on the topic of CCU. The topic of CCU is strongly linked to the development of Power-to-X technologies.
The development of these and other pathways for the production of renewable methanol from sustainable resources and waste continues to be a high priority for MI.
We are also actively involved in REACH activities, and with member state chemical regulatory issues.
We work with EU bodies such as ECHA, DG Energy, DG Move, DG GROW, DG RTD, DG Tax and DG Environment.
We provide frequent comment on actions and consultations by EU bodies.
Communication Activities: Important policies which MI actively is following include Fit for ff, RED, FQD, AQD, Tax Directive, FuelEU Maritime, Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Regulation, CO2 Emissions for cars and vans, ETS, CBAM, Gas Package, CCS, NZIA, Taxonomy...
