Mission & Interests

Goals: The Malta Union of Bank Employees negotiates Collective Agreements terms and conditions with most major banks and has the advantage of specialising with full focus on the financial services sector. The MUBE is absolutely independent and negotiates agreements with employers on pay & remuneration. • Negotiate better working conditions, such as family friendly benefits and improved health and safety in the working environment. • Provide training / consultancy for acquiring of new skills. • Promote lifelong learning. • Provide strong legal expertise to assist members in their claims against the employer. • Provide assistance and advice in dealing with disputes at work. • Discuss and monitor major issues/ transitions to the workplace — (Example: in the event of redundancies and restructuring) • Voice and discuss members' concerns with employers.

Complementary Information: The Malta Union of Bank Employees is run by a Council Administration with the legal Authority vested jointly in the President and General Secretary who are seconded employees (salary paid by company) as agreed with their respective employer but elected by paid up employee members of the Union. This arrangement is a result of a long standing arrangement between Bank and Union and is part and parcel of the Collective Agreement signed between the stake holders. Both the officials that form part of the MUBE Council and the group committees/delegate representatives are volunteering members who are also elected by the members of the Union. Costs are kept to the minimum and membership fees are the main income of MUBE.

Info Members: The Malta Union of Bank Employees - MUBE set up is run by a Council which administers Group Committees/Representative Delegates that emanate from the companies where members are represented by our Union. The legal Authority is vested jointly in the President and the Secretary who are the only full-timers and both elected officials. All others are volunteering officials who are also elected by the employee-members from each respective company where MUBE is representative. Both the President and the General Secretary of MUBE are seconded employees (salary paid by respective company) being an official arrangement as a result of the Collective Agreement signed with the Employer.
