Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: EU's relations with Iran. We aim to shed light on and expose human rights violations in Iran and the spreading of Islamic Fundamentalism by the regime to the rest of the region. We advocate for EU's relations with Iran to be conditioned to the improvement of human rights and the abolition of death penalty.
In recent years we helped campaign for the adoption of the following EP resolutions with regard to Iran:
EU response to the protests and executions in Iran https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/TA-9-2023-0016_EN.html - with a specific request to put Iran's IRGC on the EU terrorist list
Iran: in particular the poisoning of hundreds of schoolgirls https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/TA-9-2023-0083_EN.html
We promoted the Iranian women's struggle which led to the winning of the Sakharov prize to the Iranian Women Protest Movment https://www.europarl.europa.eu/news/en/press-room/20231013IPR07134/jina-mahsa-amini-and-iranian-women-protest-movement-win-the-2023-sakharov-prize
The death penalty in Iran https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/TA-9-2022-0050_EN.html
The case of Ahmadreza Djalali in Iran https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/TA-9-2021-0355_EN.html
We also focused on the EU-Iran nuclear negotiations or The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA); https://eeas.europa.eu/archives/ashton/media/statements/docs/2013/131219_02_en.pdf where we urged MEPs to point to the fact that EU’s agreement with Iran must also include human rights and Iranian Government’s involvement with international terrorism.
Communication Activities: On Wednesday 24 May 2023 together with the Friends of a Free Iran (infromal group of MEPs in European Parliament) we organised a meeting with participation of many MEPs to discuss human rights and challenges to democracy in Iran.
