Mission & Interests

Goals: The Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN, now called Innovate UK Business Connect) was established by Innovate UK (the UK’s Innovation funding agency) to build better links between science, creativity and business. KTN currently employs >200 people and has specialist teams covering all significant sectors of the economy, from Chemistry and Industrial Biotechnology, Materials, AgriFood and Energy, to the Circular Economy and the Digital and Creative Industries. Our expertise in connecting sectors, disciplines and skills with the right collaborations and business approach is what helps unlock the tremendous hidden value in people and companies. KTN has more than 60,000 members across all industries and technologies.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Horizon Europe. European Commission Annual Work Programme and Roadmaps. KTN is active in a number of European Technology Platforms and Public Private Partnerships, e.g. SusChem, Photonics21, CBE JU - Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking at the current time.
Communication Activities: Innovate UK Business Connect (KTN) participates in a number of EU funded projects through Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020. Communication and Dissemination activities are carried out through our role in these projects. We work with the UK National Contact Points at UKRI, Innovate UK Edge (who provide Enterprise Europe Network services in the UK) and the UK Science and Innovation Network to encourage and ensure continued engagement with Horizon Europe and to provide ongoing support for UK organisations to access to European funding.
