Mission & Interests
Goals: The German Alliance Climate Change and Health (KLUG) has been founded in 2017 as a network of health professionals and groups. Our goal is to make the German health sector a pioneer taking a leadership role on climate action. KLUG’s mission is to powerfully re-frame climate change narratives by promoting the nexus of climate change and health impacts. KLUG initiates and strengthens transformative action and promotes the transition to a climate neutral health care system. KLUG is a pioneer in the field of planetary health in Germany. KLUG collaborates with the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change and prompted the first policy brief on climate and health by the German Medical Association and partners in November 2019. KLUG initiated and coordinates the growing Health for Future network of volunteers and the KliMeG network of health care facilities. It is the legal entity for the Centre for Planetary Health Policy, a Berlin-based think tank for planetary health.
