Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: The development of drone (unmanned aircraft systems) services supported by a competitive industry can strongly support Europe’s twin transition to green and digital economy, and contribute to the post-COVID 19 recovery and the future resilience of the EU economy. From daily commuting, goods delivery to the proper functioning of global supply chains and the development of a wide-spectrum of new applications and services, drones are an enabler of our economic and social life. The European Drone Strategy 2.0, adopted today by the Commission, sets out a vision for the further development of the European drone market. It builds on the EU's safety framework for operating and setting the technical requirements of drones, which is the world's most advanced. The new Strategy lays out how Europe can pursue large-scale commercial drone operations while offering new opportunities in the sector. Urban/Innovative air mobility (UAM/IAM), its emerging associated technologies, albeit some of them are not entirely new, and regulatory frameworks, as well as the opportunities they promise to open for various stakeholders, can without doubt claim to be innovative.
