Mission & Interests

Goals: La "Istituti Clinici Scientifici Maugeri" (ICSM), già Fondazione Salvatore Maugeri, è stata fondata nel 1965 ed è stata riconosciuta come Istituto di rilevanza scientifica per l'assistenza ai degenti (IRCCS) nel 1969. Il background principale dell'Istituzione comprende i settori della salute, protezione e riabilitazione. Per quanto riguarda la malattia professionale, l'ICSM ha come obiettivo principale la prevenzione dei rischi professionali. Nel campo della riabilitazione, gli scopi sono: recupero delle capacità funzionali in pazienti con malattie neuromotorie, cardio-respiratorie e croniche, supporto alla reintegrazione sociale e professionale dei pazienti disabili e prevenzione degli handicap. La rete ICSM comprende 19 istituti di cui 9 IRCCS e circa 50 laboratori di ricerca.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Partecipando al tavolo di lavoro dell'European Innovation Partnership on active and healthy ageing (EIP on AHA) nei gruppi sulla medicina personalizzata, sulle cure integrate, sull'aderenza e sulla digitalizzazione dei percorsi sanitari, ICSM è particolarmente interessata alle politiche comunitarie sull'invecchiamento. Promuove quindi internamente formazione e aggiornamento sui temi inerenti. Inoltre le politiche e strategie promosse dalla Commissione Europea in tema di ricerca e Innovazione sono costantemente seguite al fine di implementare progettazioni congiunte tra i ricercatori, le istituzioni pubbliche nazionali e locali, i network europei.
Communication Activities: ICSM is active in project management and european networking in order to promote participation of its researchers to eu research&innovation programmes. Among others, ICSM is partner in several EU project concerning: -Integrated data eco-System for Healthy Ageing (ISHA): a dynamic digital platform for monitoring intrinsic capacity and functional ability of older persons (AAL Program, started 2022) - improving quality of life of chronicity in cancer patients (CAPABLE.eu) H2020 Program , started 2020 - Revolution of sleep diagnostics and personalized health care based on digital diagnostics and therapeutics with health data integration ( SLEEPREVOLUTION) H2020 Program, started 2021 - Bioreporters for multiplex cellular protein phenotyping (BIOCELLPHE) H2020 Program- Started 2020 - Affiliated Entity- JACARDI Project- Joint Action EU4Health- started 2023 - Eranet programs (JPND and EraPerMed)
