Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: Advocacy around sanctions and other policies impacting on EU relations with Myanmar.
Communication Activities: An event at the European Parliament to engage with European Parliamentarians on the question of “how do we rebuild democracy in Myanmar?”
This is a critical question. Resolution 2669 of the United Nations Security Council calls on the world to uphold democratic institutions and processes, and some of our Myanmar colleagues are making heroic efforts to create and sustain new forms of representative democracy and federal thinking. But this has met with little engagement internationally.
The goal of the event is to seek guidance and ideas around how the European Parliament and the Parliaments of other democracies can support this process, to preserve and develop democracy for the people, and in order to pursue constructive dialogue and reconciliation in accordance with the will and interests of the people of Myanmar.
Out of this exploration we aim to create a roadmap for international support in the restoration of democracy in Myanmar.

Is Member Of: IPE is not linked to any confederations, networks or other bodies.
Organisation Members: IPE works with small Civil Society Organisations and consultants on a one off basis, depending on the need. It does have Board Members.
Prior to the military coup of 2021 IPE was active in healthcare, education and support for democracy.
From coup up to present the Board of IPE deemed working with civil societies in Myanmar as unsafe as it could put partners at risk. IPE was targeted for persecutions by the military Junta. Since the coup IPE has engaged in no public activities. Our proposed democracy event is the first activity IPE will be undergoing since the coup.
IPE is not linked to any confederations, networks or other bodies.
