Goals: The association’s social purpose of national and international utility is the defence of human rights, including civil and political rights as well as economic, cultural and social rights; the rights of women, children and other vulnerable groups; the promotion of the rule of law and democracy, as well as development aid.
To reach its purpose, the association may undertake activities such as:
- concrete assistance to local human rights associations throughout the world by offering targeted expertise in designing and developing human rights projects on a national, regional or international scale;
- search for funding from private foundations and public financial backers, including European funding, to support local associations’ projects throughout the world;
- partnership with other local or international groups on human rights, democracy, rule of law or development projects;
- research, preparation, publication and circulation of feature articles, press releases, brochur (...)

Info Members: Due to increased importance of advocacy work in the former Soviet Union region, IPHR expanded the advocacy capacity of the organisation. Maryna Zastavna, IPHR Communications and Advocacy Officer on Eastern Europe and South Caucasus, oversees the advocacy work on mentioned regions, and overall communications work of the organisation (100% of working time); Favziya Nazarova, Advocacy Officer on Central Asia, is responsible for the advocacy work on Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan (50% of working time). Matt Smith, Assistant Policy and Publications Officer, devotes 10% of his working time to support advocacy work vis-a-vis the EU; Simon Papuashvili, Programme Director, is involved in the advocacy work on Ukraine and South Caucasus (25% of working time); Svitlana Valko, Project Coordinator, is involved in Ukraine-related advocacy work (10% of working time).
