Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: IFPA, as a part of the Alliance for Sustainable Packaging for Foods, is engaged on advancing sustainable packaging for fresh produce and floral, while also ensuring food safety of the product, reducing food loss and waste, and not incurring additional carbon footprint as assessed during the entire lifecycle. IFPA and Alliance for Sustainable Packaging for Foods (ASPF) are actively following the discussions at EP, Council and Commission level on the draft EU Regulation on Packaging and Packaging Waste (Proposal for a REGULATION OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL on packaging and packaging waste, amending Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 and Directive (EU) 2019/904, and repealing Directive 94/62/EC)
Communication Activities: IFPA and ASPF have shared key concerns with regard to the impact of this draft legislation on the fresh produce sector with relevant officials in the EU institutions and have offered to provide further background, whether in-person or online. In this regard, meetings with EU officials may be organized.
