Mission & Interests
Goals: International and EU Sanctions Platform aims to achieve the following:
- Supporting the operation of EU institutions and other participants in the Global Sanctions Coalition by obtaining and structurally analyzing information regarding evasion/violation of sanctions. This involves providing monthly reports to relevant EU Institutions, including initiating investigations and implementing measures to address sanctions violations.
- Expanding capabilities to gather and horizontally analyze open-source information (from Russia, Ukraine, Central Asian countries, etc.) about individuals/legal entities utilized by the Russian Federation to circumvent sanctions.
- Advocating and pushing for strengthening sanctions policies against Russia and its partners by adoption new legislation to strengthen sanctions policy, including restrictive measures to a broader number of sectors, as well as extending listings of persons and entities involved in financing and supporting war.

Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: - Proposals for the 12th package of sanctions against Russia (in particular for the consolidated Council Decision 145/2014 and Regulation 269/2014, as well as to the Council Decision 512/2014 and Regulation 833/2014).
- Proposals for the European Parliament resolution of 9 November 2023 on the effectiveness of the EU sanctions on Russia (2023/2905(RSP)).
Communication Activities: - The number of letters and materials were sent to the Commission and EEAS with data about circumvention of the EU sanctions and proposals to enhance policies as well as information on the case-by-case basis on the entities and persons who should be listed for illegal activities and support of Russia, as well as priorities in strengthening sanctions policies.
- International and EU Sanctions Platform took part in the advocacy visits of the Ukrainian NGOs to France, Germany, Belgium and Spain. The materials from previous provision were shared with related authorities and proposals for the Belgium presidency (including on sanctions) were also presented to the Belgium authorities. - International and UE Sanctions Platform took part in the Brussels Sanctions Roundtable “Sanctions Circumvention: Risks, Realities and Regulatory Response” that took place in Brussels on 7 December 2023 (https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7139979910365736960/)
- International and UE Sanctions Platform was among initiators of the Statement of non-governmental organizations of Ukraine regarding the need for the asap decision on the starting of the Ukraine Facility, addressed to all the European Institutions.
