Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Advocating for bread as part of a balanced and sustainable diet in the context of EU public health policy. In this context, we try to convince the EU that funds should be available for the promotion of "Wholegrain" and healthy "bread products" and this in setting priorities in the Annual Work Programme concerning the promotion of agricultural products.

Communication Activities: "Bread, good story. With grain from Europe" was a campaign to promote wholemeal bread and this with with EU subsides until 2023. We did this together with our Dutch colleagues from the 'Nederlands Bakkerij Centrum'. From 2024, we will continue to promote bread and in particular wholemeal bread as a healthy food product that can play a role in a more plant-based diet.

Complementary Information: We have been participating in a multi-country promotion activities for a Bread promotion campaign running in 2022 and 2023. The campaign promotes the consumption of mainly whole grain bread as a sustainable food product in a healthy diet. The title is "Bread, good story. With grain from Europe". However, the manager of this campaign is the Dutch NBC (Nederlands Bakkerij Centrum) We therefore do not receive any direct funds. However, activities are carried out with this grant in Belgium on our behalf.

Is Member Of: IB&H was founded at the beginning of 2015 by three national associations and an academic: -FGBB (Federation of Large Bakeries of Belgium), -UNIFA (Association of Belgium Manufacturers and Importers of Ingredients for the Bakery, Patisserie, Chocolatiers and Ice Cream Producers) -KVBM-ARMB (Royal Association of Belgium Millers). -Professor Jan Delcour from KULeuven Since 2023 the Confederation of artisanal Bakers of Belgium joined our npo / vzw / asbl.
